Western and southern side of Kumarakom is bordering with Lake Vembanad and also Meenachil River and many other canals flow through Kumarakom into Lake Vembanad, which is connected with Arabian Sea. Therefore, generally Kumarakom will not be affected by Floods.

1) Safest Route from Alappuzha, Vaikom, Cherthala, Ernakulam/Kochi To Kumarakom.
No Risk, You can come from Alappuzha, Vaikom, Cherthala, Ernakulam/Kochi without any flood issues to Kumarakom.
2) Better Route from Kottayam
If you are coming through Kottayam, after Baker Junction, CMS College, Chalukunnu Junction, take Right Turn, then Kudayampadi (Medical College Route) Left Turn, Enadi Kavala, Left, Kadathu Kadavu junction, Turn Right to Kottayam Kumarakom Road.
3) More Better Route From Kottayam
If you are coming through Kottayam, after Baker Junction, CMS College, Chalukunnu Junction, take Right Turn, (Medical College Route) Panambalam, left, Kallara, left Edayazham (Enters Kumarakom Alappuzha / Kochi State Highway) take left to Kumarakom.
4) Avoid When There Is Flood, To Come Through Illikkal Junction to Kumarakom.
From Kottayam, please avoid the road, through Illikkal Junction, to Kumarakom, when there is flood.
