ILLIKKALAM Lakeside Cottages is a 2020 winner in the year of Covid-19, WTM World Responsible Tourism Awards.
What was the Criteria for Giving the Award
This year the judges decided to Commend businesses and destinations which are taking responsibility and addressing the challenge of Covid-19 and to Highly Commend and Commend businesses and destinations. The judges wanted to recognise those who have taken responsibility and addressed the many challenges of the pandemic. These destinations, businesses, organisations and individuals are amongst those who took responsibility in the year of COVID-19 and sought to help others cope in the pandemic.
The Purpose of the WTM Responsible Tourism Awards, are for to recognise businesses and destinations which are making tourism better and to spread good practice – to educate, inspire and challenge others to do likewise or do more. More Over it recognises responsible tourism practices and initiatives that inspire others and are replicable across the travel and tourism industry, to showcase great examples of Responsible Tourism in practice so we can use them to educate others, including consumers, about what can be achieved and to challenge others to do as well or better.

*Received the Award from the Chief Minister of Kerala, Honourable Shri Pinarayi Vijayan in 2017,On Behalf of Chamber of Vembanad Hotels & Resorts, Kumarakom, For Our Outstanding And Continuous Contributions To The Responsible Tourism Initiatives of Kumarakom Tourist Destination in 2017.
Award for the dedicated service to the Tourism Industry from The Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Oommen Chandy, in 2014.
Certificate of Honour for the personal contributions in 2013, in helping Kerala win the Received the Honor from the Tourism Department, Govt of Kerala, for the contributions in helping Kerala to win the prestigious UNWTO Ulysses Award 2013 for innovation in Public Policy and Governance, for the Responsible Tourism Project at Kumarakom. Together, We have made Kerala Proud.
