K umarakom is the first destination in India to Implement Responsible Tourism Practices.

Kumarakom Village is Well known for its backwaters, three sides of Kumarakom, is surrounded by Lake Vembanad, and also Meenachil river is flowing through Kumarakom. Lake Vembanad is the main attraction of Kumarakom, the maximum length and the breadth of the lake is visible from the Lakeside of Kumarakom.

There is always gentle breeze and waves in the lake, which is more on the Kumarakom side than other places around Lake Vembanad. The Sun Set is more visible from Kumarakom. The morning at the Lake side of Kumarakom is very pleasant. The temperature on the lake side will be 2 to 5 degree lesser than other places.

This is an eco friendly holiday spot to relax in one and a half acres of land. There is no sound or air pollution. Gentle breeze with enhanced oxygen content and purity of air will rejuvenate, tensions and strains will be relieved.

Lake Facing Family Cottages

Cottages overlooking the Lake Vembanad and perfectly suitable for relaxation and holidaying for many days. There are Lake facing Cottages, Lake facing Family Cottages, Independent Lake facing Villas, Rooms which is near to lake and Basic Rooms, which is away from Lake Vembanad. There are 18 rooms, which includes air- conditioned and non-air-conditioned rooms.

Lakeside Dining

We provide lakeside dining facilities in front of each cottage by keeping safe social distancing, to have food and beverages with a beautiful view of activities at Lake Vembanad. We provide safe food & beverages from the restaurant on order, we don’t use any tastemakers, colour, Ajinomoto etc.

We serve Kerala Veg Meals, Fish Curry Meals, Tapioca, Chapti, Karimeen Fry, Karimeen Pollichathu, Shrimps, Lobster, Crab, Chicken Biryani, Beef Biryani, Barbecued Chicken, Tandoori Chicken Etc on the basis of prior order and confirmation.

Leisure Activities Within The Property

Drifting of Houseboats, Shikara, Motorboats, Fishermen’s Boats, and Speedboats, can be experienced from the Porch of Cottages. Unique spot to view the maximum breadth and length of the Vembanad Lake, beautiful sightseeing of the breeze and the waves of the lake. View the unique fishing of Vellavally for catching Karimeen, and also the sunset and moon set from the cottages.

Experience, Walkers Path for morning walking and exercise, make use of the Basketball Court, Shuttle Court, Table Tennis & Caroms, explore and study the Organic Farm, Fruit Trees, Vegetation and Small Stingless Honey Bee. Fishing rods for fishing from the lake, but you may release it back to the lake for creating awareness for preserving the nature. Have fun and enjoyment in our Activity Hall /Conference Hall, these will keep you engaged. We arrange Houseboat, Shikara and Speedboat for the sunset cruising/morning cruising or for the full day cruising.

Power & Waste Management

There is a 100 Kva transformer of Kerala State Electricity Board in the property for the Power Supply and for Backup there is a 5 Kva solar power unit and also supported by 40 Kva Generator for meeting the power requirement. Biogas Plant, Vermi Compost Unit and EmComposting is introduced in the property for Waste Management, therefore the entire property is clean and tidy.

Bedroom

Bedroom have basic comforts and moderately furnished to suit basic requirements, with an air conditioner, fan, attached bathroom with hot and cold water, shower, European closet, Cable TV, Electric Kettle, Steamer and WIFI. The area of bedroom will be 135 Or 175 Sq. Feet. Bed room will have a Queen size bed or 2 single coats and an office table with 2 chairs.

Porch / Sit out

Sit out is facing Lake Vembanad. WIFI facility is available at the Porch, but there might be connectivity issues, so it is better to have alternate arrangements of WIFI, such as Jio / Idea or BSNL4 G, Sim / Connections. The porch and part of the premises are covered on the top, for giving more comfort, especially during rainy season.

Premises

Clean and tidy Premises right in front of the cottage, up to Lake Vembanad. Lawn with buffalo grass and concrete Path up to the edge of Vembanad Lake. You can have daily walking and exercise in front of the cottage.

This Cottage has two AC bedrooms, with basic comforts and moderately furnished to suit basic requirements. Main bedroom is larger one and facing Lake Vembanad. Second bedroom is smaller and not facing lake. Each bedroom has an air conditioner, fan, attached bathroom with hot and cold water, shower, European closet, Cable TV and WIFI. Main bedroom has Electric Kettle and Steamer. Bedrooms have separate entrances and are also interconnected through middle door which can also be locked from both sides. This is a better cottage for the guests who are coming with their children or old aged people.

Sit Out / Porch of bedrooms of Cottage

Each bedroom has a sit out facing Lake Vembanad. Main bedroom’s Sit out is larger than the second one. WIFI facility is available at the Porch, but there might be connectivity issues, so it is better to have alternate arrangements of WIFI, such as Jio / Idea or BSNL4 G Sim / Connections. The Sit out and part of the premises are covered on the top, for giving more comfort, especially during rainy season.

This Villa is located 30 meters away from the beautiful and largest backwater, “Lake Vembanad” in Kumarakom Village, Kerala State. This Villa have two AC Bedrooms, facing the Walkers Path and greeneries, but you can have a partial view of Lake Vembanad from the sit out of the Villa. Lake Vembanad is accessible by walking up to the bank of the Lake. There is no sound or air pollution.

Bedrooms

It has two AC bedrooms, have basic comforts and moderately furnished to suit basic requirements. First bedroom is small and has an air conditioner & fan. The Second bedroom is bigger and has an Ac, fan, attached bathroom with hot and cold water, shower, European closet, Cable TV, Electric Kettle and Steamer. Bedrooms have only one entrance and are interconnected through a door which can also be locked from both sides.

Sit Out / Porch

There is a Porch to experience fresh air from Lake Vembanad, main view is towards the greeneries and walkers’ path, but you can have a partial view of Lake Vembanad . WIFI facility is available at the Porch, but there might be connectivity issues, so it is better to have alternate arrangements of WIFI, such as Jio /Idea or BSNL4 G, Sim/ Connections. The Sit out and part of the premises are covered on the top, for giving you more comfort,especially during the rainy season and for having your meals under the shade.

Standard AC Room

Room is located 20 meters away from the beautiful and largest backwater, “Lake Vembanad” in Kumarakom Village, Kerala State. You can walk up to the bank of lake Vembanad and experience the unique sceneries and activities within it by taking care of the peace and privacy of the guests who are staying at the lakeside cottages.

Small bedroom with basic comforts and moderately furnished to suit basic requirements, with an air conditioner, fan, attached bathroom with hot and cold water, shower, European closet, Cable TV and a small Sit out to view the lake. Room have a small sit out facing the Lake Vembanad with a partial view of the lake. Basic AC Room

The Room is located 75 to 90 meters away from the beautiful and largest backwater, “Lake Vembanad” in Kumarakom Village, Kerala State. You can walk up to the bank of lake Vembanad and experience the unique sceneries and activities within it, by taking care of the peace and privacy of the guests who are staying at the lakeside cottages.

Facilities of Bedroom

Bedroom have basic comforts and moderately furnished to suit basic requirements with AC, Fan, Attached bathroom with hot and cold water, shower, European closet and Cable TV. The area of the bedroom will be 100 Sq. Feet and will have a Queen size bed or 2 single coats with office table and 2 chairs. WIFI facility is not available in the bedroom. This Room have a small sit out with two chairs and a teapoy, facing Walkers Path, Shuttle / Basketball Court or Parking Area or on the side of Organic Farm.

The Check In Time is from 2 Pm, Check out time is before 12 Noon.
Add 13% to the Tariff as GST & Kerala Flood Cess, if the tariff is above Rs 999.

Other Facilities

Organic Farm

We have an Organic Farm where we have lots of Fruit Trees, such as Papaya, Vertical Farming of Passion Fruits, Spices, Medicinal Plants, Tubers, Trees and Ayurvedic Plants. We have tapioca, papaya etc throughout the year, irrespective of rainy season. We have minimum two dishes on every day, which is being prepared from the products, from the organic farm. Our farm is around 3 feet above the ground level, we made the farm by constructing a small wall around the farm and filled it with red sand, 8 years back. Therefore, we have a live farm always, even it was alive during the time of the great Kerala flood of 2018.

Houseboat, Shikara Cruising & Speed Boat

We arrange Cruising in Houseboat, Motorboats, Shikara or in a Speed boat, you can have it from this property itself.you will get the speed boat for hourly rate and all other types of boat will be available for minimum 2 hours.

We arrange cruising in a Shikara Boat, through the Lake for 2 Hours Rs 1400. Cruising in a Houseboat for 5 Hours Rs 7500 + Lunch & Evening Snacks per person Rs 400.Speed Boat For 1 Hour Rs 2500.

Activity / Conference Hall

We have an open hall with the seating capacity of 90 to 100 people, which can be used for engagements, family get together and for meetings.

Parking Space

We have enough parking area within our compound wall, in front of our office, for the safe parking of more than 40 cars.

Medical Help & Assistance

We arrange, if there is requirement for medical help to any of our guests, during their stay with us.

Please Note: ILLIKKALAM Lakeside Cottage is Family Friendly / Couple Friendly Property. We don’t prefer group bookings of Bachelors, as we had lot of issues with them, for other guests and also caused damages to our assets.
