Houseboat Catches Fire Why This Happens?
Recently sixteen people including three children escaped unharmed as a house boat caught fire at Pathiramanal in Kerala’s Alappuzha district. The incident occurred when the group was on a trip through the backwaters from Kumarakom. When they reached Pathiramanal area, two people in the upper deck noticed fire from the kitchen area.
The Crew members in the boat tried to extinguish the fire with the fire extinguisher but it did not work. That the part of the lake where the house boat caught fire, the depth of the water was only about 5 feet. “
Shallow waters helped the family along with the three children to escape the fire. They were rescued in boats by the water transport department.
Why This Happens
Obviously we can say that lack of implementing of more control and existing laws and also new regulations and other policies by authorities. But there may be lapses, ultimately the victim is the Guest only.
Responsibility of The Guest:
Awareness
1) Therefore, the Guest should also have the awareness of the, capacity, safety and security measures of the Houseboat/ Shikara/ Motorboat and Speedboat.
2) They Should take all precautions.
3) They should have the general information of the weather conditions, that they shouldn’t go out if the climate is too bad.
4) They should obey the laws and instructions for their safe journey.
Leave Your Luxury Habits
1) The concept of houseboat is to have accommodation or cruising with food and drinks without much choice, Bed room with basic facilities etc.
2) Don’t expect more facility or luxury in a houseboat, other than the basic facilities.
3) The Houseboat is not made for providing all luxury to those who want, if so let them stay in a Hotel or Resort with suitable facilities.
4) The purpose of the Houseboat is to provide the guests,enjoyable backwater cruising through the nature and stay in a different atmosphere for to have sustainability to live in all conditions.
Conclusion
If you need Air Conditioner in Your bedrooms, dining area/ porch of your Houseboat, then houseboat should have more than 2 air conditioners and moreover it may need a stand by Generator too. If you need more choice of food, that too freshly cooked, then houseboat should have a good kitchen with more than one Gas Cylinders.
The design and the construction of Houseboats, in our backwater, is definitely not supposed to have these above facilities in accordance to the safety standards instructed by the Govt. Therefore, in the Houseboat You leave luxury! Luxury Will Get Bored. Luxury Cannot be Long Lasting. Only Nature Is Permanent.
If the Guests want all the above, then the service provider will provide the same. Then the Accidents will be a continuing story——-.
